Easter card 2016

The other day at the Stampin' Up class, someone asked Kate, "Do people send out Easter cards?"   Apparently Easter, although somewhat a big enough event on the calendar, is a less popular theme in the cardmaking world.  Perhaps it's the stronger religious indication underlying the day that pushes non-Christian people away from making the cards, I think.  To be honest even though I have an Easter die and stamps, I haven't made any yet.

But think about all the pastel colours, the colourful eggs, the cute bunny and chicks!  I have to make an Easter card.  It has to have lovely pink, blue or green, and have to have a cute little animals in the middle, and maybe some eggs and flowers for decoration...


And so I did made one.  But what do people say about the project with the end result always different from what was originally planned?

It's simple.  That is all I can say.  Took me flipping one hour.

Happy Valentines Day Card

First of all, Happy 2015!

The Christmas holidays always ended too soon.  Overflowing with food, chocolate, drinks, the atmosphere and love from Adelaide, Australia, we carried our big bellies and warm hearts on the 13-hour haul of flight back to Dubai.  

Back home there is apparently many things in the list.  Mum's birthday card is the first in mind, and yet I just can't come up with a satisfying result.  So that's yet to be fulfilled and I have only a week to do so before mailing it out, which takes about 3-4 weeks to arrive in Adelaide.   

Meanwhile I have to relax.  I saw this Jennifer Mcquire's youtube on making the most of cutting dies and made a Happy Valentine's Card yesterday afternoon. Something done at least.  

I use Spellbindes heart dies as well as Paper Smooches stitches dies, as well as heat embossed sentiments to complete the card.  Since I still can't find an easier way to put the water mark on my photo I'll just skip it this time.    Xx

Christmas Card: Rejoice!

Will I ever be sick of making Christmas cards?  Maybe, but not today.

After a while of trying to meet the deadline of the Christmas fayre by making several identical cards, I grow little bit tired of it.  I am just not a very commercial person, and even with the "identical cards I made, I try to change the colour, shape, or sentiments as I possibly can.

Because crafting to me is to creating different styles of me, to be unique and personal, as opposed to commercial, mass production, and cost down.  But don't get me wrong, I also love to be recognized and make a little profits along the way (who doesn't?)  It's just not to the point where I am forced to give up my own style.  Still I am trying to find it, and a lot of times doubting if it's actually good enough. (laughs)

Today I'm completely disorganized.  I let/make Peter take Ashley to school's 12 Days of Christmas (Dubai version) rehearsal and swimming lesson after, so I can just sit down on my craft room floor thinking what that I want my card booth table to look like.  I spend a good hour researching on Pinterest and stacking my boxes, mini wooden easels, trying to get that same ethereal, je n'ais sais quois feel of a lady's display table.  I give up eventually.

Fear is seeping through the walls and try to get me.  I came back to my true self, randomly picking up a 5 by 5 inch card base, using what's left on the table, which is pretty messy by the way, and just started stamping and assembling a card.  Then it is done.



Not the most complicated nor technical, but it is a lovely card.

  

Done for now.  I know I'll be tossing and turning, thinking about the props for the Christmas photo booth.  Oh why did I get myself into all this?!
