Best Wishes - Honey Chai

Sylwia is a school mum I met in Dubai.  Her daughter, Maya, and my Ashley go to the same class at school. In this city where expats constitute 80 % of the population, you expect to meet people from around the world. Sylwia is from Poland, and I'm from Taiwan, plus we both have/had to go through the formidable Dubai road test to get our driver's licenses, hence it's quite natural that we become good friends, along with other mums.

Yesterday was Sylwia's birthday party, and therefore I made a simple but elegant card for her.  I'm happy with the way it looks and that it meets the criteria of the Fusion Card Challenge#:
FUSION {Homemade Flowers, Bright Colours & array of Possibilities!

And here's my card :-)

I intend to stamp the sentiments the way they are so it looks more interesting. Also used foam tape to make the flowers look more dimensional.

Gotta love the shine on the flowers!

The papers I used are from Kaisercraft: Honey Chai collection.  I'm not all that happy with the quality of the paper because it  doesn't trim smoothly but other than that it is a great paper pad that comes with laminated papers, various pre-cut borders and embellishments.

Tomorrow I'm heading to Stephanie's house after dropping A off school.  We're going to make mini albums!  Can't wait.

Share Your Smile - Quick and Simple Mini Journal

This morning I saw a great mini album/journal tutorial and decided immediately to use some scrap papers make one myself.  It turned out very simple and took less than 10 minutes to complete the basic structure.  Thanks to PaperVine (See tutorial HERE) I made yet another mini album!

From past experiences I've learned that mini albums tend to get bulky when you put everything on it.  Therefore this time I've put a brad on the front page and use a twine to wrap and fasten around the brad, and it worked!

What's on the cover:

1. stamping (Carte Postale stamp, Stampendous)
2. Washi tape (pink lace, My Mind's Eye)
3. Border punch-out (Pink. Martha Stewart Deep Embroidery punch)
4. Scrap papers from different paper pads
5. Distressing ink (Rangers - Tim Holtz. Gathered Twigs.)

The mirror stamp is from Kaisercraft.

Soft and Feminine Birthday Card

I probably say this too much, but the friends I met here are such an important part of my happy Singapore life. I can't say enough of the thanks and gratitude toward them.  And therefore I made this card for a friend, who's married to a Japanese husband (I can't imagine how exhausting it is to be the wife to a Japanese), has two young kids and have to work full time.  I wish all the best for her for the days to come.

This card is, except for the embellishments and card base, is made only from one same 6 by 6 inch paper pad from Kaisercraft.  I chose this layout also for this challenge:

And I love the beautiful shine on both panels. I also line some pearls on the sentiment.  See below

Blue Christmas Card

For a while I didn't think I could do anything with this Kaisercraft stamp since I bought it at a local sc shop.  I have wondered and tested with this stamp in different projects and just couldn't come up with a satisfying result.  (See pic. From left Kaisercraft, Hero Arts(?), Inky Antics mounted stamp)

But this morning I finally made up my mind to stick it through and test-made a Christmas card, and it turned out pretty nicely.  I wouldn't say it's great but at least I know what to do with this stamp in the future.

1. Make card base
2. Cut blue panel from card stock, stamp background and central image with Kaisercraft and Inky Antics stamp. Adhere with a slightly bigger red panel.
3. Stamp poinsettia on scrap paper and cut around. Punch whole and brad it. Tie bow with baker's twine around panel and through cut out.

For the sentiments I used StazOn Blazing Red and Teal Blue. For the poinsettia StazOn Blazing Red and Versacolor 20 Turquoise. I love using StazOn for sentiments than say water-based ink pads because it's solvent you don't see the ink seep through paper and cause smudge much.  It's also great for stamps with fine details.
